The New Albany High School NJROTC has been a Navy Distinguished Unit (with Academic Honors) for eight consecutive years. It’s considered one of the top programs in the country. The unit has been selected to represent Indiana in a Memorial Day parade commemorating the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor next year in Honolulu.

According to Senior Naval Science Instructor Cmdr. Joe Maynard, this experience gives cadets true insight and meaning to the core values taught in NJROTC – honor, courage and commitment. “The trip will be expensive, but the investment in our cadets is well worth the cost as they are the future citizens and leaders of our community, state and country.”

The Lodge 270 answered a community call as a major contributor towards the Hawaii travel fund. A part of that donation comes from our lunch and dinner guests who ate $1,100 of food during November’s Make A Meal Matter week. In a  ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 9th, in the NAHS gym Elks Lodge 270 presented $3,100 to this award winning unit.
